Hi, in today's tutorial I'll show you how to make an adjustable High current power supply built around the overly popular LM317 Linear regulator IC. The voltage is completely adjustable from 1.5V to 32V, and the maximum current is up to 10Amps.
The circuit consist of a linear voltage regulator LM317 which is very popular and reliable. To boost the output current capacity, an additional BJT transistor is used. It bypasses the current load from the LM317 when more than 1Amps flows to the load. Ensure to mount both the LM317 IC and the TIP147 bjt to sizeable heat sinks to prevent overheating of the components.
The input voltage is anywhere from 5V DC to 35V, the output can be adjusted from 1.5V to 32V DC.
