1000W TL494 Power Inverter with Current and Voltage Regulation
Circuit Diagram Overview
TL494 1kW Inverter Circuit with output voltage regulation electrobuff.blogspot.com
Hi, in this tutorial I'll show you how to make a 1000W regulated and adjustable Power Inverter based on the popular TL494 PWM IC. It has both current regulation and voltage feedback for adjusting the output voltage from 50 - 320V DC. It operates on high frequency, so the transformer is a small ferrite cored power transformer.
The circuit takes in low voltage DC, then uses a push pull inverter topology to switch it back and forth across a high frequency pulse transformer to step it up to high voltage high frequency alternating current. The output voltage is dependent on the transformer winding ratio and input voltage. The high frequency AC on the secondary side is fed to a Full Bridge Rectifier to convert it to DC, which is the filtered using an inductor and capacitor bank to obtain low ripple high voltage DC at about 320V. Output voltage feedback is fed to the TL494 IC via a voltage divider network. The potentiometer allows for adjustment of the output voltage across a range of values to suit different projects.
Choose good quality Mosfets and don't forget to mount them on proper sized heat sinks cause they will get pretty warm.
