SG3525 Inverter Circuit Overview
Hi, today I'll show you how to make a regulated power inverter with the popular SG3525 or UC3525 PWM IC. The output can be smoothly adjusted from about 50V to 320V.
The circuit has two major parts:
High Frequency DC to AC Push Pull Inverter
In this stage low voltage DC is stepped up to high voltage AC at high frequency. High frequency switching ensures the transformer used is small and lightweight, a ferrite cored power transformer is used.
Output Full Bridge Rectifier, Filter and Voltage feedback regulation
In this section the high frequency high voltage alternating current and voltage is rectified to direct current using a fast recovery diode full bridge rectifier, then it is filtered and smoothened using and inductor and capacitors to obtain low ripple high voltage DC.
A feedback network is composed of voltage divider resistors and a potentiometer for fine tuning the desired output voltage. The feedback is fed to the sg3525 pwm ic for regulation
