Hi. Today I'll show you how to make a simple inverter from 12V DC to 240V AC based on the TL494 PWM Driver IC. Depending on the Mosfets you used, it can achieve up-to 1000Watts of power if you parallel two IR1404 Power MOSFETs.
The circuit is basically a push pull topology which switches the current through each half of the primary winding back and forth. The changing current causes a magnetic field to expand and contract within the iron cored transformer, it's the inductively coupled to the secondary winding and a voltage and current is induced. The magnitude of the induced voltage in the secondary winding is directly proportional to the ratio of the number of windings between the primary and the secondary.
