RF (FM) Transmitter Pre - Amplifier Circuit Overview
Hi, today I'll show a simple Pre-Amplifier which you can incorporate in an FM Transmitter for detection of even the faintest of audio. It has good stability and large gain perfectly suited for this job.
The amplification gain is set by the ration of the resistors R2 and R4 as show by the gain formula on the circuit diagram.
Resistor R1 biases the Electrec microphone to ensure it is powered and ready for audio waves sensing.
Resistor R3 biases the base of the BJT Q1 to ensure it operates properly.
Capacitor C2 is a decoupling capacitor serving to isolate DC signals from the battery (power supply) and the AC signals from the microphone. It allows only AC signals to pass through to the next stage.
